Our Story

Ocean Eyes was founded by Michael and Christine during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

As part of the pandemic response, New Zealand was placed under a country-wide lockdown. We were confined to our home where we would spend our days working and nights watching netflix and gaming.

With restricted outdoor movement, we realised that we were spending more and more time in front of our electronic screens. Michael, who wears contacts, started to experience symptoms of digital eye strain (tired and dry eyes) during the work day and began complaining about constant migraines. After some research, he stumbled upon an article discussing blue light blocking lenses and its benefits. He decided to test them out and purchased a pair from an overseas store. Christine, who also suffered from bad migraines, decided to try her first pair too.

This sounds cliché but we noticed a difference immediately after wearing Blue Light Glasses. After our first week of wearing Blue Light Glasses, we had significantly reduced our use of eye drops and nurofen, and did not feel fatigued or worn out from a long day in front of our screens. Not only that, we continued to wear our glasses at night while we were watching TV, and were able to fall asleep as soon as our head hit the pillow for a full night’s rested sleep.

We aim to promote eye health and to raise awareness about the impact that our digital screens have on our health and well-being.

Our brand is also a representation of our love and respect for planet earth.

We will donate 10% of our proceeds to The Ocean Cleanup in efforts to ensure our oceans are cleaner for us, for the sea animals, and for many generations to come.

We need to play our part in the fighting Ocean pollution. Set a task for yourself to pick up a piece of rubbish the next you are at the beach, and take care of our blue.
